Bangkok is the city we fly through most, so these are the notes that come from doing it repeatedly rather than once. What is the best way to get from Suvarnabhumi into Bangkok?
The Airport Rail Link from Level B is the fastest way to beat the traffic into the centre, and Level B is also where the SuperRich money changing booths are, so the two errands sit on the same floor. A taxi is easier with luggage or late at night, but the road in can be slow at peak times. Our Suvarnabhumi guide covers both, along with where the taxi queue actually starts.
Where do I change money at Bangkok airport?
On Level B, at the SuperRich booths, not at the arrivals hall counters upstairs. The rates are noticeably better and you will need your passport to make the exchange. Level B is the Airport Rail Link level, so it is on the way if you are taking the train.
How far ahead of my flight should I get to Suvarnabhumi?
Two and a half to three hours for an international departure. Immigration can run over 45 minutes during the morning European and Australian departure waves and the evening flights to China, even with Fast Track. Allow another 30 minutes for bag drop with a full service airline, and 10 to 15 more if you are leaving from the SAT-1 satellite terminal.
